Police Investigating Death Following Fall From High-Rise in Downtown Toronto
Toronto police are investigating after a person died following a fall from a high-rise building in downtown Toronto on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the area near the Peter and Adelaide residential towers at approximately 2:30 p.m. following reports of an individual falling from height. Multiple police units, paramedics, and emergency response vehicles attended the scene, where a large section of the area was cordoned off while investigators secured the location.
Witnesses in the area, including students from the nearby University of Toronto, described a significant emergency presence, with officers establishing a perimeter around the base of the building.
Police and the Office of the Coroner remained on scene for several hours conducting an investigation. Officials confirmed that the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Residents and pedestrians were advised to avoid the area while emergency personnel worked at the scene.
